Learning in full sentences
Your memory is good at storing whole phrases and sentences, often called formulaic sentences. Learning them as a whole is the most effective way to learn a language, and it builds a feel for grammar the same way you got one in your native language.
That is why in Taalhammer you learn not just words but entire phrases and sentences.
You find collections to learn in Browse. On a computer it is in the top bar. On a phone, open the menu and tap Browse. At the top is Your A1 → C2 path, and further down are the topic collections.
Our collections are prepared for learning in full sentences. They first show you words and phrases, then sentences that use those phrases in practice. To learn the whole collection, click Add to My Library. You can also start straight away with Learn or Listen.
While you learn, you recall each sentence from memory. After you rate yourself, Taalhammer shows extra sentences that widen your vocabulary and help you talk about the same topic. Click the star next to any of them to add it to your learning, or click Show more to see more.
