How to evaluate yourself while learning

Only you know whether an answer came easily or took a struggle, so in Taalhammer you rate yourself. Your ratings teach the repetition algorithm how you learn, and it uses them to work out the best moment for each word or sentence to come back.

After you click Show answer, you have three ratings to choose from:

  • Easy: you said the word or sentence without mistakes, and fairly quickly, without having to think hard.
  • Difficult: you did not know the answer.
  • Almost: somewhere in between, for small mistakes.

Cards you rate Difficult come back often; cards you rate Easy only now and then. On a computer, the panel on the right shows when the card you just rated is due again.
